Have you toyed with the idea of making your own swimsuit but just felt like it was too different or complicated from all your other sewing adventures to attempt it? This is your chance to spend a day giving it a try! It really isn’t as hard as you might think!
This is another one of our Plano American Sewing Guild homegrown workshops so the price couldn’t be better! Why not take the plunge? To keep it simple, we will all be making the one-piece version of Butterick 4526.

Pre-class instructions
- Be sure to choose a stretch knit that stretches 50-70% in each direction.
- If you cannot find what you are looking for locally, I suggest Fabric Fairy for both your fashion fabric and your lining.
- Please be sure to buy about 1/2 yard extra fabric so we have some to use for testing.
- Please pre-wash and dry your fabric before class.
- I suggest you choose a fashion fabric that has enough weight to be able to sew a little more easily for your first attempt, plus it will give you a feel of having a bit more coverage when you wear it. And if you are like me, I want coverage! 🙂 The lining fabric is typically a lighter weight and often comes only in black, white or nude. However, you can choose to use the same fabric for both the outer and the lining if you prefer. It will just be a bit thicker.
