New Youth Sewing Group
The Plano TX Chapter of the American Sewing Guild is dedicated to Teaching Another Generation
We now have a special interest group for kids who like to sew or want to learn how to sew. There is not a fee to attend each session, except for a small kit fee. The American Sewing guild now offers a Junior Membership for youth members age 17 and under. Youth membership is extended for ages 17 – 22 if they are a registered high school or college student. Junior membership is only $25 per year. ASG guidelines require that you join the American Sewing Guild after attending two meetings. There are many benefits of ASG membership. These benefits are listed on the ASG website.
Each program will include a small sewing project that can be completed in 1-1.5 hours. We will supply pre-cut kits. There will be a small kit fee for each program. Kit fees will be approximately $5-10 based on the project. We will also offer use of a sewing machine for those kids who do not have a machine. Of course those students who have their own machine are encouraged to bring it so they will learn more about operating their own machine. There will be adults available to assist the young sewists with their projects.
The group will meet the 2nd Saturday of each month.
Time: 10am to noon
Location: Plano Sewing Center, Corner of Spring Creek and Custer
Dates: November 9, 2013 – December 14, 2013 – January 11, 2013 – February 8, 2014
We are excited to be able to start this group. Please come join us and make sure that the young people in our community can continue to keep the interest in home sewing alive.
We need to know how many kids will be attending so that we have enough kits and machines available. The deadline for signing up is the Monday before the Saturday session.
